How The Insurance Service Works
To begin the process, we will need to ask you some questions about your current situation, goals, objectives, lifestyle and financial position. You will need to complete a document called a “Fact Find” which helps your financial planner get to know you and identify your specific requirements. The more information you supply to your financial planner, the more appropriate the advice you receive will be.
Once the Fact Find has been completed and returned to us, your financial planner will determine which type of insurance, what level of cover and products are relevant to you and will present the recommendations in the form of a “Statement of Advice”. Once you have signed this document, we then move onto the application process.
The Cost of Our Insurance Service
Providers of insurance products charge up to 130% commission upfront on your first year’s premium and then up to 15% trail commission on all premiums after that. At Bright Future Financial we will only charge you a one off fee and remove any commission from these products. What does this mean for you? From day one your insurance will be cheaper and you will be saving money.

What would happen to you and your family if you were suddenly unable to work for a period of time due to illness or injury? Would your income continue and could you and your family survive? Income Protection insurance provides you with a monthly benefit, that generally covers you for up to 75% of your usual income. It can pay your living expenses and debts while you’re unable to earn an income.
Difference between stepped and level premiums
Insurance premiums usually increase with age because the older you get, the more likely you are to make an insurance claim.
For insurance such as life, total and permanent disability, or trauma cover, you may be able to choose between stepped or level premiums.
Here is the difference between stepped and level premiums:
- Stepped premiums – Your insurance premium will increase each year as you get older but is cheaper in the beginning. If you’re thinking about this option, it is worth looking at what the premiums will be over the next 5 years, or however long you intend to hold the insurance for, to make sure you can afford the premiums.
- Level premiums – Your insurance premium does not change due to your age but is generally more expensive than a stepped premium in the beginning. Level premiums may increase over time due to inflation adjustments or changes to the insurer’s fees.
If you want to control your costs over time then level premiums may suit you. Premiums are higher in the beginning but much cheaper than stepped premiums when you are older. If you intend to hold the insurance for a long time, level premiums are likely to be cheaper in the long run.
Income protection policies should be reviewed every time your income changes to make sure you have the right level of cover.
